Les Puces de Paris Saint-Ouen by Guest Blogger, Stéphane

When Stéphane, my husband, first suggested that we go to the Saint-Ouen Flea Market to look for a desk, I have to admit that I wasn't very enthusiastic about the idea of rummaging through lots of dusty stalls.  After having visited Saint-Ouen, which is the world's largest antique market and the first site to be classified for its atmosphere, I have to admit that I was wrong, very wrong.  Since going to the flea market was Stéphane's idea, I asked him to be my first guest writer.  I'm very pleased that he agreed.

Stéphane:

I first heard about the Saint Ouen Flea Market from my parents, who went there many years ago with a Parisian friend. Brocantes and flea markets have always attracted me like, well, ... a flea to an old mattress. So, Saint Ouen became the destination for the day.

In fact, since 1870, Parisians and tourists looking for furniture, jewelry, old prints, dishes, silverware, clothes, anything imaginable and everything unimaginable go to Saint Ouen. Today, more than a dozen covered and open markets can be reached by metro and are made of small stalls filled and overflowing onto the passages with items from the past, recent, and long gone. But don’t think this is a junk yard. All goods are valuable and well displayed, sometimes resembling a museum.

Mary Kay and I spent a good 4 hours looking for a small desk. While we did see many desks, “secretaires” and tables, some so large that they were better suited for a castle, we couldn’t find one that would fit both our office and our budget. However, we saw many interesting pieces that we were not searching for, from a 4 meter high fireplace mantle, to a marble church altar, to several crystal chandeliers bigger than our living room.

  2. Thanks! The antique section is amazing. Stephane has returned a couple of times since writing this post and bought a desk there last Saturday. It's well worth a visit.

  3. So… you have a drug test coming up, and you want to be ready for it. The trouble is that you’ve used marijuana recently and the system is flooded with THC, and curving the drug test is not an option. You’ll have to go on a marijuana detox. But which detox method is the best for THC or say marijuana detox? Don’t worry, we’ll help you figure out the best THC detox methods. But first, we’ll cover the main types of drug test, and how long THC or marijuana can be detected in that test. Let’s look into the health information. There are six main types of drug tests: 1. Urine 2. Oral/saliva 3. Others go so far as to purchase whizzinators: silicone-based fake penises that dispense synthetic pee. Some do away with the belts and bags, and instead opt to conceal bottles of fake pee using a leg strap or specialized underwear, and then just pour it during their test. Yes, it is. However, you have to be sure that you’re using solutions or powder mixes that come from legitimate brands, such as Quick Fix, Clear Choice, or The Urinator. These synthetic pee brands make sure that you’re getting something that’s as close to the real thing as possible, which greatly increases your chances of passing your drug test. Using fake pee to serve as your drug test sample requires a certain degree of skill and secrecy. After all, let’s just say that what you’re doing isn’t exactly “playing by the rules”.
