Sunday's picture and a song - Somebody That I Used to Know

A couple relaxing near the 33,000 Memorial Day flags in the Boston Common.

What's the connection between the pictures and the song? I'm not sure. The photos are just a few of the many that I took while in Boston and the song is one that has been stuck in my mind ever since I first heard it on Friday night. Many thanks to Jamye and Sara for telling me that I should watch the YouTube video of "Somebody That I Used to Know" (Goyte - Cover). It will forever remind me of our evening together at the Tavern on the Water.

Edit: Stéphane and I arrived at Charles de Gaulle Airport a couple of hours ago and had to take an alternate route home when we got to the 16th arrondissement because of all the traffic near Roland Garros. It's sunny in Paris - perfect for the first day of the French Open!

  1. okay, I wasn't going to like the cover of this song, the original video is such a classic (even if some think it's risque--people are so....) but this cover is cool. Kudos for finding it.

    And welcome home.

I hope you make it to Roland Garros--it was our "first date" I believe.

    1. Thanks - although I can't really accept your kudos because I didn't find the video. Up until last weekend, I didn't even know the meaning of the word, "cover". It's a good thing that I have children who explain these modern developments to me!

I wish that you were here to celebrate our "first date" together, Joseph! Stephane and I walked over to Roland Garros last night just as the people were streaming out of the stadium. We have evening tickets for tonight, which means that we can stand in line to possibly buy tickets for the evening matches. Fingers crossed that we can see a good one! If we can't, at least we'll be able to watch the action on the outside courts. Stephane will spend a day at Roland Garros for a "team building" exercise on June 8. For some reason, we thought that we would still be in the States during the French Open and didn't buy any regular tickets. I still can't believe our monumental mistake!

    2. If only in spirit, I'll be there. I'm watching the Novak match at the moment, live.

    1. Ha! The sun is still shining in Paris - it has to make up for all of those rainy days when you were here in April!

  4. This song has been following me since a friend introduced me to it a few weeks ago! They sang it on SNL last night! I love it, too. Welcome back to Paris, MK, but I'm with Nancy...did you really have to mention that it's sunny?! :)

    1. Thank goodness that the sun is shining in Paris! If it would have still been raining like it was when you were here in April, I would have had an even harder time leaving Boston. I'm fairly positive that the sun will make an appearance while you're here in July! :)

I'll have to see if I can find the SNL clip. Isn't it strange how you can be completely unaware of a song and then hear it everywhere once someone draws your attention to it.

  5. I was just at Boston Common yesterday and I saw a wedding party, too! Too bad our activities didn't line up. They almost did- so close! Anyway, it was a gorgeous weekend and I had a wonderful time. I'm gonna post a report on Any Port.

    Gorgeous shot of the bridge!

    1. Ever since I got your text message about whale watching, I've been wondering if you saw any. I can't wait to see your report! I really wish that we would have been able to get together while we were both in Boston, but there's always Paris or NYC!

I'm really pleased that you had a wonderful time because Boston is starting to feel like a second home to me.
