Sunday's picture and a song (on Saturday) - Happy St. Patrick's Day!

St. Patrick's Day goodies in Boston. I wonder if there are any green pastries in Paris...
perhaps I'll have to celebrate with a pint of Guinness instead.

Update: The Parisian leprechaun in the photo and an American family dressed in bright green at the Louvre were welcome sights on St. Patrick's Day in Paris! Even though I don't have a drop of Irish blood in my body, I love that people of different ethnic backgrounds celebrate this day in the United States.

    1. I hope that you were able to get a bit of sleep last night, Joseph! Thanks for sending the photo of the Chicago River dyed green. I had no idea that it would be such an emerald color! When I told Stephane about it, he joked that the Seine is also green...but not only for St. Patrick's Day!

  2. That video's brought tears to my eyes....lovely sentiment and scenery. As for St Patrick's day here in FL, no comparison to the celebration in Boston's "Southie".

    1. The video also brought tears to my eyes...knowing that we can't escape the hardships of life, it's a meaningful blessing.

The revelers started celebrating while I was in Boston last weekend - so I can imagine that it must be a pretty impressive place to be this weekend. Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately!) my kids aren't there to take part in the celebrations. One's in Montreal and one's in NYC.

    2. Nancy, I just found a website where you can enlarge the Traditional Irish Blessing and/or send it as a card.

  3. The funny thing is, you wold have hardly notices it was St Patricks day yesterday. A couple of green balloons in the supermarket over the Guinness, that's all!

    1. On our way home from the Louvre, we tried to find a bar that serves Guinness but didn't have any luck. Perhaps we should have been looking for a place with green balloons!

I did see an American family dressed in bright green, including green sequins, at the Louvre. It would have been hard to miss them!

  4. We celebrated in our area and it seemed every other person at the bar was an expat. When I asked our French friend why they don't celebrate he said, The French have enough holidays of our own; we don't need another one - ha!

    1. How funny! I would have thought that your French friend would have left it open for consideration, especially if it meant another day off from work! I'm glad that you were able to celebrate. With hindsight, we should have gone to one of the Irish pubs in town.
