Happy Holiday Giveaway!

Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock
Jingle bells swing and jingle bells ring
Snowing and blowing up bushels of fun
Now the jingle hop has begun...

As you may have guessed by the introduction, I'm feeling in a festive mood tonight and I haven't even been hitting the eggnog. Christmas is just around the corner and thanks to Tempting Places Boutique Hotels, I have an exciting holiday giveaway for you. They've invited me and one of you to join a small group of women for a fun DIY Christmas Craft Party at the romantic Boutique Hotel Seven in the 5th arrondissement! Starting at 7:00 pm on December 6, we'll get an exclusive tour of the hotel before Do It Yvette provides us with all of the supplies to make our very own Christmas craft. It's going to be a lot of fun!

If you're in Paris on December 6 and would like to kick off the holiday season at Boutique Hotel Seven, please leave a short comment below prior to 6:00 am (Paris time) on Monday, December 3, 2012. I'll put the names on a slip of paper and ask Stéphane to pull one of them out of a hat, a bowl or whatever is handy. That's it. No gimmicks. I'm just really excited to be able to offer this to one of you.

Many thanks to Tempting Places Boutique Hotels and Do It Yvette for putting this special event together. I wonder if we'll get to see the "Lovez Vous" (above) or the "Sublime" Suite (below).

Update: Congratulations to Jacki (HJ Underway) for winning the Happy Holiday Giveaway!

  1. Bonsoir Mary Kay,

Please do not enter me into the contest because I won't be in Paris on Dec 6th ...

Although I wish to say how much I enjoy your blog posts and your FB posts! They always take me right back to the city I love most.

    Merci,
    Priscilla

    1. Many thanks for commenting, Priscilla! It's a shame that you aren't in Paris next week. I hope that we'll have the opportunity to meet at some point in the near future!

And thank you for reading and "liking" posts on facebook. That provides all the motivation I need to keep writing about Paris!

    2. I so wish I could be in Paris too although I've noticed that Ella has responded ... the two of you doing DIY together would be worth photographing and blogging about! Have fun whomever the winner. :)

  2. Lovez Suite would be a nice place to play, or craft. The floating bed in the Suite Sublime--about that I'm not so sure.

If I were in town, I'd ask to join your giveaway, alas...

Have fun. I hope a stranger wins it because you're so good with people, they'd have a real treat experiencing it with you.

    1. After the Christmas pomander fiasco last year when you noticed all the way from Chicago that I had not baked my pomanders as per your instructions, I would be way too intimidated to attend a DIY crafts session with you...unless I plied you with champagne first!

Thanks for reassuring people that I'm not some crazy blogger that they should be wary of! I sincerely appreciate it. If no one signs up in Paris, I may have to put a wig on Stephane and take him!

    2. Well, you have a second chance to get the pomanders right this time.

    3. Or, I could take the easy way out and not post photos on the internet so you won't know if we made them the right way or not!

    1. Thanks for being the first entrant! At first I thought that maybe my husband had posted this but since he was traveling, I didn't think that he was even reading my blog. Stephane has promised me that it wasn't him. So, if you wouldn't mind, could you please leave your name or initials so that if your name is drawn we can match it to you. Thanks again!

  4. Gosh; I wd dearly love to join you for the fun, Mary Kay but at present time I'm not yet sure if I'm here or not.... Can I take a rain check? I'd so love to meet you finally....
Thank you anyway for the always so interesting and often surprising posts. You showed me Paris way better than I could have shown myself because you live intra-muros and are much more connected. In any case, I am sure we WILL meet one of these days - sleep well and be happy.
    gros bisous, Kiki

    1. Of course, you can have a rain check, Kiki! Just let me know whenever you have a bit of free time. I know that you're really busy traveling back and forth between Paris and Switzerland at the moment.

      Bisous xx

    1. Oh, ethical dilemma...but I guess that I shouldn't add your name since you're family. Sorry. :(

  6. Why, oh why I can not be there! What a wonderful idea a DIY-party. I have never heard of such a thing here in Vienna, but I wish there would be.
I hope you make photos of the DIY-results. xS

    1. It would be wonderful if you were in Paris for this event, Sanne! From the posts that I've seen on your blog you seem to be a very crafty person. Tempting Places has hotels in other parts of the world so maybe you could suggest that they host a craft party in Vienna! I'll definitely post photos of whatever I make.

  7. I love this hotel! I got to see the "Alice in Wonderland" room! The bathroom had to toilets side by side and a chess table in between! So quirky!! This contest looks so fun!

Making Christmas Crafts with MK! Well this is the best (and original) giveaway I have ever seen on a blog!

    Good luck everyone!

    1. Oh! I didn't see the "Alice in Wonderland" room online. The chess table sounds like a really fun idea...unless guests get really absorbed in a chess game and never leave their room!

Many thanks for entering the giveaway, Mlle Ella!

  8. MK; I won't be around on the 6th, I shall celebrate 'St Nicolaus' in Switzerland..... - Oh WHAT A SHAME - I sooooooo would have loved to be with you and that hotel, I just stay bouche bée (so much more dignified than 'open mouthed'....) - it obviously isn't meant to accommodate me ;)
Good luck to the happy winner and much fun for you and...
Love and thanks for this unusual and fascinating offer - it would have been the first gift of this Season!

    1. Thanks for reminding me that the 6th is St Nicholas Day, Kiki! We always used to put our shoes out for St. Nicholas when I was a child because it's something that my father's Norwegian and my mother's German/Austrian ancestors did. It's a tradition that we carried on with our children. For some reason, my husband didn't celebrate St. Nicholas Day when he was a child, even though he's Catholic. Maybe it's more of a Swiss German than a Swiss French thing. Have fun celebrating "St Nicolaus" - I'll be thinking of you!
