Sunday's picture and a song on Monday:" La Pluie" in Normandy

Sun Bar Beach

In honor of all the rain that's falling during our visit to Normandy, I decided to recycle one of my favorite French songs, "La Pluie" ("The Rain") from last year. Enjoy!

  1. Yeah, the beach was deserted when I was there too, umbrellas all rolled up, but I still enjoyed the town, and especially Honfleur.

I know a different version of this song, I'll have to try to find it and send it your way.

    1. Sara was skeptical when I told her that it was a beautiful sunny weekend when Stephane and I were in Deauville for the Film Festival. She kept saying that she has only seen photos of the umbrellas all rolled up. Given the weather in Normandy, it's probably true!

Please let me know if you find the other version of the song. I would love to hear it.

  2. Great pics - even with the rain. Last year I visited Paris in early June and it had been raining for three weeks straight. Everyone said it was abnormal but I'm starting to think it was more regular than they let on. The rain is here to stay for at least another week. I'm just going to enjoy it the best I can. :)

    1. Three weeks of rain in Paris isn't abnormal. I guess that everyone is just so happy when the sun finally shines for any length of time that we quickly forget how miserable the weather has been.

Fingers crossed that the sun comes out soon. I've seen a few rays of sun this morning! :)

    1. Thanks, Baron. It was hard to hold on to my own umbrella on the beach. The wind was whipping it around so much that I almost got lifted off my feet like Mary Poppins!

    1. I hope that you get some sunshine soon...although I guess that sunshine is as rare in Seattle as it is in Paris!

  5. After hearing the song, I immediately went to amazon.com and got a CD of Zaz. If you want hot and sunny, come to So Florda. It's been unbearable this week and we are thankful for the afternoon thunderstorms.

    1. Hot and sunny sounds heavenly! I wouldn't even mind some humidity right now.

You'll have to let me know how you like the rest of Zaz's CD. The first time that I heard "La Pluie" was after our soggy trip to Chartres.

  6. I could have used that song last week during our visit to Pacific Rim National Park on the West Coast of Vancouver Island,Canada.

    1. Beautiful photos, Conrad! I particularly likes the pictures of the driftwood and the one where Susan is pointing at her new boots.

Susan and you have been in my thoughts because it's currently "Heures Heureuses" in Paris. We have our passports, like last year when you were here, but haven't gotten to any of the restaurants yet.

  7. Hey Mary Kay - what a nice song to cheer me up on such a rainy day like today! After seeing the pictures from Oklahoma City I'm not going to complain about our weather, though...

    1. You're right - a bit of rain is nothing compared to what the people in OK experienced. The devastation caused by the tornado is sobering evidence of what Mother Nature can do when she puts her mind to it.

I'm happy that the song cheered you up on a rainy day, Heidi!

    1. We had a wonderful time at your wedding, Mme Coquine! My eyes kept filling up with tears while watching Seb and you during the ceremony. It's so obvious that the two of you are meant for each other! I'm sorry that we didn't say goodbye but we did the French rather than the American thing. We wanted to slip away without distracting you from your other guests.

  9. I am so sorry you are having such bad weather in France. Amazingly in England it has not been bad. Some sunny days.

Dueville beach seems to look beautiful in any weather.

    Love Denise

    1. Talk about climate change - sunshine in England, not to mention enormous tornadoes in Kansas, is all the evidence that I need that things are getting out of whack. I wonder if in the future sun worshippers will flock to the beaches in England to get a tan!

  12. It is possible to watch Houston Texans games online or on TV without an expensive Cable TV package. Usually these games are on FOX, but that may change depending on schedule, type of game or national interest.
