The hottest new pop-up bar in Paris with a stunning view of the Eiffel Tower: 180 Restaurant and Bar at the Pullman Hotel

Better hurry! The clock is ticking and there are only 126 days, 13 hours and 26 minutes left to enjoy one of the most spectacular views of city from the hottest new pop-up bar in Paris.

Situated on the 10th floor of the Pullman Hotel, the bar offers an intimate encounter with the Eiffel Tower in all its sparkling glory. Watching the day fade into night as we sipped glasses of Veuve Clicquot champagne with friends visiting from the States yesterday evening, Stephane and I regretted that we hadn't reserved a table for dinner. In keeping with the theme, the pop-up bar has specially concocted drinks and menu items honoring the seven deadly sins. With offerings like le Charnel (the carnal), a savory cheesecake, and le Sensual (the sensual) a sweet cheesecake, I was sorely tempted by the sin of gluttony.

As enticing new sins appear on the menu on the 7th of each month, I'm already planning to surprise Stéphane with a romantic dinner for two at a table next to the window. I just hope that he doesn't mind if I spend most of the evening staring at the Eiffel Tower rather than at him. She's a beguiling sight!

The 180 Restaurant and Bar opened its doors on January 7 and will close them definitively on July 7, 2013.

  1. Does sound fun, and love that it'll close definitively on 7 July. Thanks for the tip!

Only question is - won't Stephane see your surprise here? At least he's forewarned that he'll come in second to Gustave Eiffel's lovely landmark!

    1. The secret is safe! Stephane just left for a whirlwind business trip to Switzerland, Italy, Saudi Arabia and Egypt early this morning so there's little chance that he'll read this post ... unless he's really bored while waiting for his plane.

  3. LOL! you beat me to it..... but glad you went and enjoyed the view. I had the Rooibos honey tea, highly recommended! Superb service and ambiance, although we got a bit tired of the underwear fashion show on a loop on the TV. screen after a while!

    Love Denise

    1. I've been wondering when you're going to post the photos that you took of the Eiffel Tower while you were at the 180, Denise. I saw a couple on Facebook and they're spectacular. Thanks for encouraging me to go! Seems strange that they had an underwear fashion show on a loop. I missed that completely because my back was towards the big tv screen.

  4. Cool. I wonder why it's only a pop-up bar, surely it would succeed as a permanent fixture. Any ideas what they plan for the space after 7/7?

I love your description of the carnal, sensual, and gluttony--funny writing.

    1. oseph - the server told us that the 180 Bar came about while the remodeling of the bar/restaurant on the ground level was being done. In fact, they are completely remodeling the entire hotel. After the bar/restaurant is moved back down to ground level, they will remodel the 10th floor space where the 180 Bar is now into meeting rooms and will also use the space for wedding receptions, etc. - too bad they don't leave the bar/restaurant on the 10th floor - I'm sure they'd have much more business - for the vie

  5. Hmmmm - several letters and words were left out of my reply - is this reply space limited? Anyway, should have been "Joseph" and the sentence at the end was "for the view if nothing else"

    1. @Joseph, I think that it would succeed as a permanent fixture - it certainly has one of the best views that I've seen of the Eiffel Tower. Maybe they're going to move it back down to the ground floor because they don't have a large enough kitchen to handle a full-time restaurant on the 10th floor. It seems a shame to use the space for meeting rooms.

@Sandy, Thanks for sharing the information that you learned from your server. It's great that you were able to go to the 180 Bar while you were in Paris! I'm with you in wishing that they would leave the bar/restaurant on the 10th floor.

  6. Pop Ups have become one of my favourite occurrences of the last decade Mary Kay. It's always pleasant to find something new in the neighbourhood.

    1. I wonder where pop ups originated, Baron, because I've only recently started hearing about them. Maybe they started in Melbourne? Or, maybe I didn't know about them because the small town where we used to live in Switzerland was behind the times. There are a lot of pop ups (restaurants, stores, bars, etc) in Paris during fashion week.

    2. I don't know where they started either Mary Kay but I don't think it was Melbourne. We did however, have a lot of pop ups over the festive season which has continued throughout summer and into the new autumn. The pop ups are mostly fashion and accessory shops however, there are also quite a lot of curio , book and market pop ups...even a bike shop!

    3. Not sure about bars, but my beloved Comme des Garcons was one of the first retailers to start pop up stores over ten years ago. I seem to remember they were the first, but I may be wrong about that.

  8. Loved my pop up experience at the Hotel Pullman in January 2013 ! Returning to Paris and London in April 2014. Are there any new pop ups ? I don't think any could beat theHotel Pullman, but I am willing to try them !!
