Sunday's Picture and a Song: Kaas chante Piaf, La Vie en Rose

As some of you have remarked, I've been rather negligent about posting songs on Sunday. But thanks to Sanne, who recently hosted a giveaway on her blog Leben und Stil, I'm pleased to present Patricia Kaas, one of France's most popular contemporary artists, singing Edith Piaf's La Vie en Rose.

Fortunate to have been the lucky winner of Sanne's giveaway, receiving the brightly colored package and Easter card in the mail was one of the highlights of my week. In between making travel arrangements for my upcoming trip to the United States and taking care of things at home while Stéphane was away on a lengthy business trip, I've been rather stressed lately. When I pack my suitcase tomorrow, the CD will be the first thing that goes in it. Even though Sanne wrote, "There is no better place to listen to Patricia Kaas singing songs of Edith Piaf than Paris", hearing these famous French songs will be a welcome reminder of home while visiting Boston, Texas, New York and Annapolis. Thank you, Sanne!

In a tribute to one of France's most beloved singers, Patricia Kass will perform songs from her album, Kaas Chante Piaf, at the Olympia in Paris on September 26, 27 and October 10, 2013. If you would like to attend one of these legendary concerts, please click here to purchase tickets.

  1. First, let me wish you a Bon Voyage...exciting and fun filled!(and safe)
And second, thank you for posting this lovely rendition of my favorite French song. It made me realize that I am only a month away from my return to Paris!
Hopefully the weather forecast for New England is less than expected this week but then, Paris of late has prepped you for it!
    See you soon,

    1. Thank you , Nancy! I look forward to spending time in your hometown, although Carolyn just told me that there's more snow on the way. When will this winter end? I guess that's somewhat of a rhetorical question for people like you who live in Florida.

I'm happy that you liked Patricia Kaas' rendition of your favorite French song and that it's getting you in the mood for your next trip to Paris!

    Ausnahmsweise auch auf Deutsch ...
    Liebe Mary Kay,
    Alles Liebe - Sanne

    1. Sanne, It was my pleasure to write this post! I'm truly grateful for the Patricia Kaas CD and will enjoy listening to it for years to come. Whenever I do, it will remind me of you.

Stephane and I plan to go to the Patricia Kaas concert on October 10. I just have to call the Olympia to book our tickets because I couldn't find a seating chart online.

Thanks again for the CD. I'll let you know if we make it to Bemelmans' Bar in NYC!

    1. I don't know if it's the same for you, but no matter how stressed I am before a trip I always feel better once I'm airborne. Maybe it's because by that point there's nothing that I can do but watch movies, drink wine and try to sleep. Thanks for the wishes - I expect to have a wonderful trip because much of the time will be spent with my kids! :) The youngest one is turning 23 on Friday so we have something to celebrate.

    2. Yes! I know what you mean. You just have to give yourself up to the flight - sort of suspended animation! Nice you're spending time with the kids. Enjoy!

    1. You're welcome, Baron, although I really have to give credit to Sanne because I didn't even know that Patricia Kaas had released a new album. Enjoy the warm weather in Melbourne. One of these days the pendulum's going to shift in our favor and the sun will return to Paris. At least I hope that it does!

  5. When I passed L'Olympia last week, the marquee read Kaas Chante Piaf and I had been meaning to look up who this Kaas person was, which I had forgotten to do. Well now I don't need to, thanks to you and your good luck!

I love her voice. I'm so glad that you featured her. I'm always on the lookout for new vocalists.

Bon voyage! I head back to the States next week for a busy trip myself. Courage!!

Bon Voyages. ( althought you have probably arrived now) Have a good rest.
